Miracle of Independence




Happy 4th of July everyone!  I am very proud to be an American today.  I just got back last night from Washington DC and Richmond Virginia.  I am so happy that I was able to see so much history and learn so much about our Nation and Founding Fathers.  


The best estimates there are about how many people that have lived on the earth is around 100-110 billion.  There are approximately only about 3 billion that have experienced freedom the way we as Americans and a few other nations have experienced it.  I really take our freedom for granted.  There are less than half of the nations around the world today that have freedom like we do.  In the Islamic world if you are a woman, homosexual, or child you are not worth anything.  You have no freedoms.  The majority of people never get to wake up and do whatever they want or pray how they want or fly across the country for a weekend if they want.  We are sooooo blessed and I have thanked God many times recently for the blessing he gave to me to be able to be born free.  


I loved reading quotes from our founding fathers.  I loved seeing the memorials placed from the wars we have fought that have led our country and others to be able to be free. I loved seeing God as the center of what our nation was built upon and how He was the foundation of it all.   It was a very brave thing our Founding Fathers did.  No one in the history of the world had put together a community or nation the way they did.  Even when they knew George Washington was going to be the leader they still didn't make him a king.  They didn't make him the sole decision maker.  They put congress together that was voted on by the people so there would be more people making decisions.  They were inspired by God to put together this nation.  They could not have come up with the program themselves.  They were God-fearing men and created the greatest nation that has ever been.


Thomas Jefferson said this, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to secure these rights governments are instituted among men. We . . . solemnly publish and declare, that these colonies are and of right ought to be free and independent states. . . And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." 


People say it was a bunch of white men who put this nation together.  Did you know there were some black Founding Fathers?  We never hear about how there were many free black men and women before slavery.   Click here to learn more specifically who and what they did.


George Washington said, "Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."  I love that and believe it.  It goes back to the age old question, "Can man rule himself?"  The answer is YES!  If you give man power over anyone else they will take advantage of it and abuse it.  The only leader that can rule over us righteously is our Savior, Jesus.  We can rule ourselves but not over anyone else.


I found this quote from Thomas Jefferson and I LOVE it.   "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."  


I love this day to celebrate this nation.  I am so proud to be an american.  God bless America and have a fabulous Independence day.    Get a tissue before you watch this one.

That was beautiful and tearful. I too am so grateful to be an American citizen. I love this country.
